About the editorial team

Lipedema Help is written and maintained by the Lipedema Help editorial team — a small group of researchers and writers who are not physicians. We have spent years studying lipedema: reading clinical guidelines, tracking the peer-reviewed literature, and listening to the experiences of women living with the condition.

We built this site because we were frustrated by how hard it was to find clear, honest, well-sourced information about lipedema in plain language. The aim is simple: give every person who suspects they have lipedema the information they need to understand their body and have a productive conversation with a doctor.

We are not physicians

The Lipedema Help editorial team are informed non-clinicians — researchers and writers, not medical professionals. We do not diagnose, treat, or give personal medical advice. Every clinical claim on this site is sourced to a named authority. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for your individual situation.

How we research

Before writing any page, we read the primary clinical literature: peer-reviewed studies indexed on PubMed, the US Standard of Care, consensus guidelines, and the publications of major medical institutions. We do not rely on other health websites as sources for clinical claims.

Every factual claim is checked against a named source. Every source is linked. When evidence is uncertain or actively debated, we say so — we do not flatten nuance to make a cleaner article.

Our full research and fact-checking process is described on our Editorial Standards page.

Named contributors

We are committed to transparency about who produces our content. Named individual contributor bios — with role descriptions, research backgrounds, and verifiable identity information — will be added to this page as the team grows. We will never invent credentials or fabricate a person.

Until named bios are live, content is attributed to the Lipedema Help editorial team. This is a deliberate, honest choice: we would rather say "the team" than invent a plausible-sounding person.
